I just realized that Ellie gets off easier than Abby in TLOU2 in the sense of how both she and Abby have recurring flashbacks where they try to save their dad and can't Both of them get to test if they could have beat their father's murderer one on one.

Yeah but is that how it works psychologically? Like, they both have repeated flashbacks where their lizard brain (or maybe dog brain) tell them they could have saved their dad. Abby has more of a rational basis than Ellie to believe she could have

if the fireflies really understood their world they would have wanted *joel's* brain, because clearly that's the key to unlocking the secret power of "reloading from checkpoint"

Yeah, that's one of the two problems with Ellie's (I mean Twitter Ellie, not Game Ellie) reasoning: The Joel Abby kills is not the furious monster who burned the Fireflies' nest. Killing him won't convince her that she could have saved her own father.

The second problem is that while we call "honor culture" the indea to answering to wrongs done with revenge, it's hardly honorable. People who adhere to vendetta don't care about being honorable and giving proper respect to their adversary…
