I'm going to change this into a harder question: There's a drug that causes anterograde amnesia that keeps you from forming long-term memories while you're on it A guy who wants to commit a violent crime deliberately takes the drug so he won't live with the guilt of doing ithttps://twitter.com/GailSimone/status/1315510372275613697 …

Yeah, we've seen you talk about that before and it's a convincing argument. Thank you for it. We think we would be happy about the existence of a compelling story that played that angle up and made people think about it that way.

Like the story about, say, Emile Hirsch trying to strangle some woman who worked for the studio at a party He claimed he'd been slipped some unknown club drug, other people said this was a lie to make it seem less bad and he was just drunk as usual I'm not sure it matters
-
And him being like "Everyone who knows me and knows what I'm about knows this doesn't reflect my values or the person I strive to be" Well, everyone who knows you sober, sure

The minute you mentioned Jekyll and Hyde I was like yeah, that story is about booze, right? Like even the potion not working so he cant switch back at the end is just what happens when an extremely alcoholic person tries to quit cold turkey and get withdrawal.
-
Precisely! And once he's established the harmful pattern of behavior Hyde starts to be able to assert himself without any use of the potion, *especially* when he's tried to go cold turkey for a long period and Hyde gets "restless"

Here's a thing: I am absolutely NOT a different person when drunk, regardless of amount. I feel a bit floaty, and yeah, somewhat lowered inhibition, mostly in terms of not obsessing over every little thing. But I'm definitely still me, and still aware of my actions.
-
I've definitely said and done things I'd be too self-conscious to do sober (I would NEVER sing in public when sober), but I can't honestly ascribe anything 100 % to alcohol. And I don't doubt different people have different reactions to alcohol, not calling anyone liars, but...
