I remember the time I fully turned against Jerry in Tom and Jerry is the short where Tom *goes on vacation* (presumably with his human family) and is *visibly relieved* he won't have to chase Jerry for a week, because for him it's a *job* Then Jerry gets bored and follows himhttps://twitter.com/thelindsayellis/status/1315475602053365760 …

I feel like Sylvester and Tweety were the only example of this dynamic where I wasn't on the side of the cat/predator Jerry's a sadistic asshole troublemaker and Wile E. Coyote is a dangerously thin animal that just wants to eat. Tweety just wants to vibe in his cage

Wile E. Coyote is a victim of his own hubris. He has access to technology that would let him catch ANY other animal but he thinks he must catch the road runner to prove his brilliance. He has noone to blame but himself.

But that tech is always falsely advertised and comically defective, it wouldn't help him catch a damn thing I guess Wile E. is more a victim of not bothering to look deeper into his phonebook.

This is true but most of the stuff he used would have actually worked on say a deer or literally any other animal. All in all, it just shows how delusional he is that he is so brilliant that he can catch the road runner.

The coyote was also the sympathetic character. Chuck Jones had a series Bible that specified he had to be. His failures must always be caused by his own hubris or backfiring Acme products, and it had to be clear he could stop at literally any time.https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.mentorless.com/2017/11/07/9-rules-compose-road-runner-show-bible/amp/ …

Yeah it's obvious that this is not in any sense the most efficient way for him to keep himself fed

Oh, heavens, no. "Listen, mac; let's say you *do* catch him and have him tonight. What are you having for dinner tomorrow?"
