I feel like Sylvester and Tweety were the only example of this dynamic where I wasn't on the side of the cat/predator Jerry's a sadistic asshole troublemaker and Wile E. Coyote is a dangerously thin animal that just wants to eat. Tweety just wants to vibe in his cage

Wile E. Coyote is a victim of his own hubris. He has access to technology that would let him catch ANY other animal but he thinks he must catch the road runner to prove his brilliance. He has noone to blame but himself.

It's something that only appeals when you are a kid and rebelling against authority figures. Tom is authority and Jerry is the underdog. As adults, we see that Tom is a little shit trying to steal food. And it's even worse when T is minding his own business and J torments him.

It's weird to look back at these as an adult. Cats are pets, and mice are vermin.

The period during which Elmer Fudd more physically resembled Arthur Q. Bryant, his voice actor, gave us a few cartoons in which Bugs was completely unsympathetic. Elmer was a nature photographer in one and just camping in another and Bugs was just *merciless*.
