and the dark wizard thinks this is some kind of bluff but then the muggle just takes it with complete dead-eyed acceptance and winds up really creeping him out

no, I'm not talking about the original riff here, I'm talking about how entertaining a jarring tonal shift it would be in the original Harry Potter narrative if this one, randomly selected bystander-victim just genuinely doesn't give a fuck for all of thirty seconds of screentime

Yeah this young woman is just totally on board with oblivion and then the narrator just moves on and leaves the question of what the fuck was going on perpetually unanswered and never again remarked upon, leaving the reader with an unrewarded sense of extreme dissonace

JKR, hilariously, just casually included "vampires" on her list of Dark creatures in Voldemort's army with no elaboration at all on their culture or history I'd like to imagine a Muggle being vampirize in exactly the circumstances you depict

Of course, this does raise the question of why Volde doesn't just get himself vampirised if he wants to live forever. Doesn't seem like he gets that much sun anyway.

Yeah Tremere did it, it's a fairly simple solution

This is another one of those things where fandom picked up on the thread of how terrible JKR's writing is but laughed it off There was this post like "why does Voldemort go to all the trouble of horcruxes when he can textually be a vampire?" "maybe he just really likes garlic"

It wasn't clear which Magical Beasts which "can't use wands" are only *legally barred* from using wands, but would be very powerful if they could get their hands on one, and which ones actually *can't* use wands Like, in VtM it was actually a big deal vampires can't use Magick

And Clan Tremere had to work really hard to build back up a simulacrum of True Magick with Blood Thaumaturgy So maybe Voldemort didn't like that idea Although it's weird vampirism would have that restriction and not vampires or the kind of lich that he is
