There's a Dan Brown book where the big reveal hinges on "cryptography geniuses from NSA fail to notice that a strange word is actually an anagram of a phrase they use all the time". Got to the reveal, and had to go back a few pages, twice. "Wait, they didn't already know--?"

In the first book she figures out Snape’s logic puzzle, but she uses information the reader isn’t given [the sizes of the potions]. Hilariously “a person who can see the sizes can solve this puzzle” winds up being an important piece of information that lets the reader solve
