Yeah. I think the trade-off here is that for a nominally 'enlightened' despot, the job comes with certain responsibilities to the rest of the body politic. So it's something of a paradox as to what the hands should do when the brain has cancer.

Which is why I think one version of understanding Trump is as the Mad King. We're all supposed to pitch in to make up the gaps, because you can't just cut out your brain.

Anyway that's why when we say subjects should rise up against kings to them it sounds insane and absurd, like telling a hand to punch its own face because the brain has been mistreating it Like Bret Stephens' bullshit about how the king is the only piece that matters in chess

And to them there's no contradiction to trying to get people to rise up in defense of their oppressors Any more than there would be for you to use the bones in your hand to punch the face of someone who wished your hand would get bone cancer
