Saw on FB a discussion among evangelical Republicans that they're waiting to vote until Election Day because if Trump dies they're definitely voting for Pence but otherwise they're in a quandary I'm ok with this

Do write ins for the replacement and votes for the dead person both get counted in that scenario or is only one method ‘correct’? Or is it a crapshoot based on what random officials/judges feel like doing

If a candidate dies, becomes incapacitated or is otherwise officially no longer the nominee (like if they officially withdraw before the deadline, the way people were yelling at Aaron Coleman to) the party committee votes to select someone to replace them

In a presidential election, because it's actually an election for a slate of pledged electors under the banner of a given party rather than an actual direct vote for a candidate, there's no constitutional barriers to this The GOP can just say all Trump votes are now Pence votes

In this case, if Trump dies, there's a pretty high chance they'll just fuck Pence over, looking at the chatter from Team Trump Like there's no actual rule Pence would be the candidate in the November election, they could just keep him the VP candidate and put Ivanka in above him

Becoming the "interim President" between November and January only to be immediately demoted back to VP again would be a unique humiliation few other politicians can say they've endured And therefore one I'm sure Mr. Pence welcomes with the same odd enthusiasm he always does

Wasn't Pence's political career pretty much dead until he got the VP offer out of nowhere? He probably genuinely believes that God has deemed him for eventual greatness and I kind of understand why.

His whole relationship with Trump is this weird religious abnegation thing, like Trump as a human being spits on all the values Pence claims to live by ("Grab 'em by the pussy" vs. "Can't be alone with a woman ever"), and he treats it like God's testing him

It *definitely* fits my definition of a kink

Wait, does that mean we can't shame him though? Because Pence's toadying to Trump is shameful, but kink shaming is wrong...
