Saw on FB a discussion among evangelical Republicans that they're waiting to vote until Election Day because if Trump dies they're definitely voting for Pence but otherwise they're in a quandary I'm ok with this

Come on, it's sooooo obvious the Trump coalition is on the cusp of exploding into flames the instant Trump bites it They don't even want to actually let Pence take the seat, they're all talking about finding a way to make him give it up to Ivanka or Jared
-
Also if Pence became President he'd be eligible to run for two more terms after *this term*, the one that ends January 2021 You can't get 12 years through this loophole, the maximum possible is 10, and he'd only get 8+3 months

I might have agreed with you pre-2020.

Evangelicals feeling uncomfortable voting for Trump but comfortable voting for Pence is literally the best case scenario for that group. No better possibility exists but worse ones do (they decided they could look past Trump's flaws in 2016 because he was literally God's tool)
-
Yeah that's what I was trying to get across, this is a huge fracture in Team Trump's base
