The way it works is: "OMG, the virus!" reaction. Then a "Look, all is well! The virus isn't even serious." It's a shell game, and a rather convincing con, not unlike a few of the ones PT Barnum famously pulled.

I mean, if ‘fake a COVID infection’ was really his plan, he could have done that without leaving the WH. I doubt he’d voluntarily give up tweeting for the two days he was laid up if he’d just been faking it.
