A: ok but that doesn't change my observetion about the overlap, if anything it intensifies it considerably further. B: that's certainly the tack WoD took with it... Which is incredibly gross since it turns into "once metaphorically violated your only moral choice is death."

Which if we allow for vampires in the context of WoD to symbolize - let's just fucking say it - the sexual hedonism of non-cishet-vanilla spaces as viewed by conservatives... Fuck does it get ugly. "Your child got seduced/drawn into the Vampire Life by the not!Jews & must die."

Imo the territory WoD (and Blade, and that whole 90s-00s genre of Urban Industrial Punk/Club vampires) enters with its vampires is gross and queephobic-slash-antisemitic to its core. Especially once you start viewing anyone other than the vamps as protagonists.

I mean hell personally I've always been shocked the primary monsters of WoD weren't things like werewolves, but WoD werewolves are just a mess (and as I understand it had some uncomfortable overlap with some vaguely fash-adjacent symbolism in oWoD?)

I mean look you kind of have to do something with that, the Nazis literally created a thing called Operation Werewolf

I know I'm just saying it's bizarre that WoD seemed to take as a moral statement "you know who are the ultimate evil? It's not the Nazi murderfurries who wanna go anprim, it's the leather clad punks, misfits & weirdos who drink blood and corrupt the sexual morals of our kids."

That's a hell of an oversimplification. The leather clad punks where usually portrayed as the protagonists in the gothic punk world (Of Darkness). Not always, never universally, but usually.

Yeah Hunter was not a "final statement" by WoD on anything, it was an extremely controversial product and the Hunters themselves were a great big dysfunctional mess

Every group in WoD is a "great big dysfunctional mess"! They made the worst of the worst more cohesive and synergetic with one another, oddly enough. The should-be good guys are all at each other's throats.1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes
Yeah the Messengers really fucked up a lot when they made the Imbued One of the central ironies is none of the Creeds are positioned to be "leaders" because the one that was meant to have the "leader" powers turned into the Waywards
