Werewolfism being a Curse, it could have been handled as an addiction, but it's telling where in one book IIRC when Hermione defends Hagrid with a "not all giants can be horrible" she uses werewolves as comparison instead of house-elves with Dobby as disproof of innate nature.

Where she could have referenced Dobby as proof that elf servility is inculcated--and the "brutality" of giants is likely the same--instead she references folk infected with a *disease* causing compulsive savagery they genuinely can't control, putting giants in that camp by birth.

What’s fucked up is that between Section 28 (my county kept it past the rest of England repealing) and then actively avoiding LGBTQ stuff because I was in deep denial I never noticed this stuff. It was all so *normalised*.
