When I eavesdrop on TERFilosophy I always learn something new, like for instance that it's feminist to lose your shit at your son for painting his nails https://twitter.com/smolgardenghost/status/1312524694008987650 …

I've never presented as particularly femme in any context but to be told I'm *not allowed* to do so *at all* or I'm harming women is something else I'm so old I remember when the line was "Dress any way you like, just don't call yourself an actual woman"

But apparently no, all forms of "femininity" are "reenacting and reinforcing ritual submission of the female sex class" God, okay, fine All makeup and nail polish and jewelry are now banned, got it ...Is there some kind of guide you can publish on which haircuts are acceptable

Like at times in the past I've let my hair grow out just because I'm fucking lazy, but I guess that's participating in the social construct of femininity now or something? What's the regulation length, can you make sure to send an email Is it okay if it's long but not styled

Lol the TERFs are actually going to seriously have a tribunal ruling on when a purse is sufficiently un-girly that you can call it a "murse" and people of both sexes can carry it without upholding the patriarchy

One of the nastier personal digs at academic TERFs specifically has been "You all dress like you have a fucking uniform" But clearly this lady earnestly believes it If you don't look almost exactly like Sheila Jeffreys, you are harming women somehow

This carefully constructed androgynous presentation where you've always "sensible shoes", button-downs and slacks that aren't baggy but aren't fitted too closely, hair that's cut *just* to neck-length Anything overtly masc or femme means you're "ritualizing oppression"

And it does cut in both directions, like Jeffreys was fucking famous for telling butch lesbians they were harming women and playacting at patriarchy, before she suddenly flipped and decided she was defending butch lesbians from being "stolen" and transed in to men

Am not sure how people take her seriously tbh. And thanks for noting people like her were against butch AND femme lesbians. And the butch femme dynamic made them burst into flames because it "aped heterosexuality" strangely this latter rhetoric is repeated by some progressives

It's actually kind of funny that by the broad definition of the term as I understand it Sheila Jeffreys IS a butch lesbian but she therefore carefully goes out of her way to dress *just femme enough* that she technically isn't Like she gets "mom haircuts" not man haircuts

Its just because she has terrible fashion sense. And no she isnt butch. Thats a special kind of self identified lesbian, marvellous with a long history. She is odious thats her identity.
