I know nothing about medicine, but couldn’t there be unintended side effects to combining all the drugs he’s been given today?

Yes. There can be unintended side effects with any medication. Treating with multiple, still-experimental treatments at never-tested doses is a great way to accidentally kill someone. Or create Deadpool. Either way.

My guess is that they’re basically trying to throw everything and the kitchen sink at the virus, and they’re not at all thinking about potential safety issues with the high dose.

For context, most mAb are administered in doses of like half a gram. For bench research, antibody is bought in the microgram range. 8 grams of mAb is a lot especially when the half a gram doses can run tens of thousands of dollars.
