I'd rather bring up the fact that 'hashtag', being as generic as it is, might highlight such terms as erosive agents by association. Since basically any social site could host status feeds, and cross-posting is a thing, we might see more "I'm tweeting with

The guy who invented hashtags specifically told the media he intended the concept to be public domain and refused to claim copyright or trademark over it -- or allow anyone else to do so -- which was pretty cool

Like the word "hashtag" and the idea of putting a # on a word to turn it into a #clickablelink to everyone else who did the same is explicitly now a public domain concept and any platform can use it
