Aren’t googling and photoshopping already genericized?

I've seen photoshopping reduced down to 'shopping' in a lot of circles so I think googling is going to go first

I would argue "Photoshop" is already generic, even if it's not legally designated as such.

Photoshopping has the advantage of sounding like the thing it is without any other context.

Hasn't it already happened with googling?

i believe netflix will collapse before that, tweeter will evolve into something else. photoshop i'm pretty sure will become a verb forever, and i'm of the opinion it's already happened for google (i use it and conjugate it in my native french as well)

The truly dystopian future is one where "a disney" is a generic term for just any sort of commercial entertainment

Photoshop is my guess. It’s not obviously tied to a brand well known to the public like the others. Photoshop software it’s relatively specialized and serves a niche, but the word is used as a verb or noun generally to mean an edited image

Googling AND Photoshopping. IMO only Netflix HASN'T killed it's trademark so far but Twitter is kinda on the edge

Largely bc there is only Twitter to do the thing on and even small competitors like Mastodon work to distinguish themselves event though a lawsuit is unlikely
