This screams of "what I want to think is the case rather than what it actually is!" You criticized in your lengthy ass thread but who's to say that JKR used your logic for naming certain characters or spells? You never have asked her about how she thought of those names.

No, JK Rowling is the one who said that the word Alohomora comes from the "West African dialect of Sidiki" Whatever her reason for saying that, it cannot actually be true, because there is no such thing as the "West African dialect of Sidiki"

I'm not aware if she said that but ok... Nevertheless, in your thread and the comments you've answered, you just pushed what you think MIGHT be the case, since you don't exactly know her reason to select those names. 1/2

The point is, you started the thread by calling it "petty" but now your obsession says differently. You have made this huge ass thread of what's right and what's wrong but forgetting that the basic thing before making judgement is to know how she thought it, which you didn't 2/2

Are you saying that it is impossible to judge any work anyone does as good or bad without being able to telepathically divine their intentions? I mean, since that's impossible period, you're really just saying no one should be able to criticize anything period

No, I'm saying, when you judge such things it's good to have an actual verification to promote it as "look this is ACTUALLY RIGHT" because on reading your thread the way I felt is, you are promoting a notion of what you are saying is 100% right, in which case one would expect1/2

it to be solid and if not then you should have said it in a mere opinion way which you didn't. End of the day, you are actually putting out opinions as facts, which is not really the right thing. ALso, contradicts by your first intention of being petty 2/2

Saying anything good or bad is by its very nature a statement of opinion and there's nothing "mere" about it As far as what I'm saying in terms of facts, I am very confident I am factually correct and if you think I'm wrong you're welcome to correct me

Well that's the point, cause you are discussing about how right or wrong you are about someone else's hard work. So I can't say if you are right or wrong without knowing the actual person's work that's being discussed. That's the logical way to do it and to make sense. 1/2

You can be confident sure but if what you say isn't actually the way how things happened then your confidence on what you said doesn't really factor

Again, maybe you should actually read the fucking thread

I've read it & what I discussed with you was in good faith. I'm not criticizing you on what you wrote as you said it was petty but there's no sense in deciding yourself that you're right 100% on someone's work for the reason what I already said. But it's fine I knw we won't agree

Okay, so you know that when I say that she claims to have taken the word "Alohomora" from the "West African dialect of Sidiki" that's a direct quote from her testimony in the the JK Rowling vs. RDR court case, right? I didn't make that up, she's very much on public record
