I think it's honestly kind of weird that people are mad at me over the obvious fact that I have allowed my anger at JK Rowling's real-life politics to color my impression of her work It's inevitable that that happens, and certainly far preferable to doing the reverse

Why exactly does Hermione think hanging out in the countryside looking for Horcruxes under random rocks and whatnot is a productive way to occupy their time Also why do they have to physically wear the cursed locket that makes you evil instead of just leaving it in a box
-
UH i think you'll find that's what frodo had to do.

JK has a weird indelicate way of writing that works for childrens' novels but gets weird anywhere else. It's hard to describe Like I swear JK forgot the Muggle dude was there several times, but the script notes he's there, so he silently follows the action for ages, like a ghost

Maybe I'm remembering it wrong, and at the time I was excited for the movie and not really looking to nitpick anything But it really feels like something was off about JK's screenwriting skills, and her having to account for minute details like that

Actually, concept-wise, I kinda liked it - they have no idea what to do, so they wander aimlessly fixating on their personal issues, a better writer could have done something with that - so it's doubly-sad that it's obviously filler.
