Instead of trying to create some kind of list of codified rules and guarantee that if they follow them they will be seen as "unproblematic" Because there isn't any such thing

I think that's the honest approach really: that those of us who are white writers just need to recognize that we're never going to be above criticism and just accept that when we screw up people have the right to call us out on it. Which goes doubly true for white male writers.
