Unsaid thing about the cure- the Fireflies would not have been able to produce it in a scale that would help anyone but their SLC crew. Like their whole ideology it’s firmly rooted in an old world that’s just *gone* and will NEVER come back.https://twitter.com/BootlegGirl/status/1310319375535214598 …

Lev and Yara, the WLF, everyone in Jackson, or Boston, would never see that cure. Even if, and it’s a big fn if, it could get produced in those numbers what would happen if they showed up to Seattle, or Jackson, offering a cure the groups there would have ZERO reason to trust it

I thought he just took in Abby and her crew? I remember her telling Owen they have to prove themselves to the WLF

No he's specifically stated to be a Firefly or former Firefly, that's how they know him

Whoa, I never noticed that. Must have been brief to be missed by the wiki. Re the vaccine, we're clearly meant to feel that even gradual, difficult distribution would be huge for the eventual survival of humanity. Implausible maybe, but so is anyone still having bullets or gas.

I think this is a gameplay and story segregation thing, I think you're meant to get it in your head that the spores are so dangerous that there are whole formerly inhabited regions of most big cities that you just can't go at all because Bloaters have turned them into colonies

It's a slow war that the Infected are inevitably winning because you can't even walk into the heart of their territory without getting infected The old city cores where all the good stuff is - technology and manufactured goods - are permanent no/go zones

Even the really badass zombie fighters like Joel and Tess are trying to grab as many valuables as they can from the places that are only somewhat infected before the Bloaters take root and the spores spread It's a losing race against time

And, I mean, TLOU2 confirms that Given that the thing Abby fights in the hospital is supposed to be a tiny fraction of what's down there

Right, if we had a whole army of Ellies it would still be a difficult war but it would at least be possible Whereas as it is everyone is just biding their time until the whole continent slowly but inevitably becomes fungus
