I thought he just took in Abby and her crew? I remember her telling Owen they have to prove themselves to the WLF

No he's specifically stated to be a Firefly or former Firefly, that's how they know him

Whoa, I never noticed that. Must have been brief to be missed by the wiki. Re the vaccine, we're clearly meant to feel that even gradual, difficult distribution would be huge for the eventual survival of humanity. Implausible maybe, but so is anyone still having bullets or gas.

One thing to keep in mind is that FEDRA left behind some functioning aircraft. If they could fuel them they could literally airdrop vaccine needles across the continent

Aircraft require extensive and regular maintenance. It wouldn't work. To say nothing of cleared airstrips, clean needles, etc.

There were functioning helicopters at some point, remember Left Behind?

Ok but let me be blunt here: Do you have any idea how often copters need to replace their blades? Helicopters are *absurdly* difficult to maintain! Really the Fireflies' only play would have been to use the cure as a propaganda thing to seize control of FEDRA holdings.

I mean ok but cars are still relatively common in TLOU. Ellie mentions casually they might find one that works on the way to Seattle. The WLF has tons. And a Cessna isn’t really much more complex than a car

A Cessna is considerably more complex than a car, with considerably worse tolerances for error. And, you know, *significantly harder to fly*.
