As a misotheist I legitimately do like the whole "the moon is a TERF" trope, I take more satisfaction in the idea that my existence is a rebellion against the divine, but certainly cis women and maybe even most TME nonbinary people should handle those moon blood tropes with carehttps://twitter.com/gwenckatz/status/1310214393523658753 …

honestly I kind of appreciate it as somebody who despises dianic wiccans and was impressed to see a cis man calling them out in the nineties

Like I can see that but tbh that's just how reality works in sandman rather than being an actual criticism

Really? I thought it was Gaiman responding to Ruth B@rrett types he'd encountered in the witch community

Gaiman has said multiple times since then that he is absolutely on Wanda's side in the story and Thessaly and the Moon are both bad guys (which honestly seems to me to be obvious when you read it)

The problem with the story is that it's this goth tragedy thing where Wanda is a good person who deserves better but all the forces of the world are arrayed against her and she can't find happiness except in death

Which is a generally relatable mood that underpins the whole goth thing but for multiple reasons people are tired of, especially for trans/queer stories

Like I think he was in fact trying to channel angst from young trans people in that story (his daughter was dating a trans girl at the time IIRC) but this is exactly the suicidal ideation everyone these days says not to feed

(One thing about Bit that was interesting is that it *is* a tragic romantic death story but then turns out to be a vampire story She got the death she kind of wanted, found out dying is a lot less pleasant than advertised, and now, inconveniently, she's still around)
