That doesn't NOT say she's a religious leader, at all; tbh if anything I'm willing to bet she was more likely to be one.

People are people. When crisis happens, in the absence of a strong community supporting them and providing Answers and a sense of agency, people radicalize and go for someone who DOES seem to be offering an empowering narrative.

And religious authorities, especially in America, are exactly the sort of community leader likely to offer solace and a Path. And from the depictions of her, the Prophet seems to have possibly been Latina, and that's a fairly religious demographic?

Yeah but I mean it was Seattle. Do people in Seattle become fundamentalists in any numbers?

The Pacific Northwest, outside of the urbanized coastal areas, is fairly conservative. But more to the point, we're talking a world-ending disaster. *People become fundamentalists*.

And again, we're talking an end-of-the-world event. People who are progressive NOW aren't special.

Tbh I feel like what they were going for is that because it's Seattle and not Mobile Alabama it makes it easier for us to believe it's a weird hippie homebrew religion and not just Christianity
