...that... is a hell of a resume to get cast as someone who's on screen for 10 minutes and gets I believe zero lines

Well yeah she was probably somewhat expensive But Emily is basically the "signature character" of the Seraphites if you actually want an avatar who represents the Seraphites themselves and not rebelling against them

I mean they tried *really hard* in story to be like "the Seraphites have this huge positive side in their mutual aid network roots," which of course to me just reinforces exactly what I think mutual aid networks really are and would become in a societal collapse

The issue is that the "dead lady with followers and writings in a post apocalyptic city" trope is ALWAYS evil and really common, so it would have had to be like a triple twist

I mean one thing they do point out in the lore, twice even, is that if you show up in Seattle you cannot join the WLF and they will at least passively try to kill you (not as aggressively as in the game bc not provoked but still) but the Seraphites WILL take you(if you're cishet)

Yeah it's a tradeoff, the Wolves are all full up and have a really long waiting list Whereas the Scars are really easy to get into but then you have to go to church all the time and you don't get electricity and you have to cut yourself up (hence the nickname)
