The big climactic thing in the Time of Judgment book for Demon: the Fallen was Lucifer finally having his big confrontation with this one pet Hunter he's been cultivating, posing as a friend and mentor, whom he thinks might be his last shot at getting a decent Antichrist

The big crossover thing with Demon and Hunter is that Demons need to use humans as a conduit to affect the world, how effectively they can use their powers is determined by the human's Faith rating And Hunters have the highest Faith possible for any human being

The Imbued are this reckless last-ditch attempt by the Messengers to save humanity by bringing back humans to the level of spiritual awareness and power God meant them to have when she made Adam Pre-lapsarian humans, rulers of creation, made in the image of God

Humans as they were truly meant to be -- with the Messengers carefully obscuring this fact, nerfing their powers (the Second Sight, the Hunter Edges) so they think they're only there to fight the other monsters The second coming of the Solar Exalted

And so Lucifer is obsessed with the idea that if one of the Imbued (the "Bright Shiners") makes the fully informed and willful decision to commit to his cause, to be a vessel for Lucifer himself, he will be the most powerful human to ever live, the Antichrist

He puts the Hunter signature character through his Last Temptation and rages out at him because they both fully know the tropes that they're playing into and Lucifer is losing his mind that the guy refuses to just change his framing

Of COURSE "all the religions are here to fuck with Lucifer, it's just Christianity is MORE true." God I hate how much default Christendom ends up pissing on Judaism

Well, except that this Hunter's Christian upbringing, if you buy Lucifer's story, is what kills the very last hope for the world's survival

It's still proclaiming Christianity more true than everything else, Arthur.

Well, Lucifer explicitly thinks Jesus' death and resurrection was a lie intended to train humans to embrace martyrdom over survival and ensure the world's destruction

If you actually do believe the Messengers are on the level (despite one of them being the Ebon Dragon) and that all of this happened because it really was the will of God who has a plan to fix everything and make it all better after the world ends, then sure

But part of the edgelord grimdark nature of the ToJ books was to make this as difficult to accept as possible (even if the original editorial team probably had this as their intention)
