Feynman was a great teacher and a great scientist, but he wasn't the greatest scientist who ever lived, and many of the contenders for that title had notoriously shitty people skills and were notoriously dismissive about talking to the general public

It says a lot about a field if the most recommended authors are bad at communicating.

That's a ridiculously bad interpretation. Not writing for a lay audience != "bad at communicating."
