God, the shit that people get for even *supplementing* with formula is *amazing.* It doesn't even have to be, "I only use formula," but "I also use formula," and the flipping out begins.

Yeah, sorry, this debate isn't about formula. At all.

No, there's also milk donation/purchasing. This is so ridiculous.

That isn't at all something that happens on a large scale. Formula is THE alternative to breastfeeding. Yes, there are some small alternatives (some of which are dangerous). Formula is THE alternative.

And if you are saying that what you oppose is breast milk donation/purchasing and you are fine with formula, that's a weird position to take.

No, she's not Your argument has consistently been that having kids with the full knowledge and intention they will not be breastfed is unethical

You're the one who's jumping around claiming that when I say "formula-shaming" I must be accusing you of attacking poor families who have no choice but to use formula I've made it very clear I'm not saying that

I am saying there is nothing wrong with having a kid who will not be breastfed because the parents are biologically incapable of breastfeeding, whether or not that incapability is due to what you deem a "medical condition"

And moreover we should be able to talk calmly about breastfeeding vs bottle feeding as a "cost-benefit analysis" and that cis moms who CAN breastfeed but just DON'T WANT TO are allowed to make that choice
