I'm really disappointed, y'all. I was so excited when I heard they were making it a film with Millie Bobby Brown. I figured that it might take some liberties with the source material, but I didn't expect it to actively HURT.

Yeah you described the books as being actively about the "women's world" that forms the glaring gap in Sherlock's (and Mycroft's) knowledge and Enola beating them by using her knowledge of that world and ability to move within it

Whereas it sounds like this movie leaned heavily on the whole Not Like Other Girls thing, which is antithetical to that

It really feels to me just from the trailer that they pitched this project to her agent as a fluffy fun "girl movie" to try to lighten up her image from all the angst and darkness people got to know her through in Stranger Things

Totally. Which is infuriating because I was excited to see her play Enola BECAUSE I knew from Stranger Things that she could do serious and dark!

She's one of those people like Jodelle Ferland who got famous as a child actor for being able to do "creepy" well Like before Stranger Things she was in Intruders, this BBC show where she played an adult serial killer possessing a young girl's body

It's nice work if you can get it but obviously you've got to make a game plan to transition away from that as you near adulthood, because "disturbingly adult-acting little girl" is only a shtick you can do while you are a little girl
