Like I dunno, "World War III" went from something people were all lowkey terrified of into a joke in the 90s, an antiquated notion, something the human race had evolved beyond No more world wars, wars were now a brushfire distraction, background noise in the Pax Americana

People still kind of think that and I'm upset about it Surely now you realize nothing is impossible I truly believe if I have the misfortune to live to my grandfather's age I will live through World War III

If I live to that age it will be because the nuclear exchange was "limited", and I, like everyone else, will have gotten used to a "post-nuke world" and whatever that entails

It's amazing that because there wasn't a CFC lobby the ozone layer just got straight up fixed. Gave us a sense that maybe we could actually not kill the planet/ourselves.
