The list of songs where the original recording was so good that you just shouldn't cover it, at all, is pretty short in my view "September" by Earth, Wind and Fire is a slam-dunk entry though

I do actually still think their cover of "Makin' Out" by Mark Owen was a really, really good song They stripped that one down to make it much more romantic and intimate, which isn't quite the same as jut making it sad

I mean, it helps that, no offense to Mark Owen, the original "Makin' Out" wasn't particularly well known or beloved, I think Pomplamoose covered it because they personally knew him
