i'm saying this as someone who grew up w/ harry potter & has gotten less excited about it in recent years: it wouldn't have been nearly as popular as it was w/o the hogwarts houses. the sort system became its own mbti-like thing.

I really think those are exactly why it took off in ways other Magic School books didn’t. Well, that and the publisher REALLY knowing how to market them and get a whole franchise out of the deal.

I was not impressed with Moore's take on Potter, which dipped heavily from the well of "GET OFF MY LAWN YOU KIDS".

Yeah, I've heard he rails hard against anti-depressants through his take on Harry and it sounds very ablist. Like, the world is literally on fire right now. I'm sorry I have trouble getting through the day on my own.
