If they get M4A any chance of legal transition could easily vanish. Like I said I'm not aware of any single payer country where you could transition as fast as I did (making 18k a year for the record, with insurance covering nothing)

TERF Island's problems aren't because they have state health care as a starting baseline, they're because they have TERFs in power. A state health care system has no inherent ideology beyond that of those in charge.

Germany still has a gatekeeping system that in the US can be bypassed relatively cheaply. Norway too

These aren't functions of a state health care baseline in themselves, though. It's not like to ensure that trans people have care you need to make a Faustian bargain to proclaim that cancer is ok and people can be made bankrupt by it.

Yeah, and there's specific protective mechanics that can be kept in play, but they're unspeakable in my circles Such as making sure the government pays for your insurance, but it's run by a corporation you choose, which is the existing Medicaid system

There's a reason people don't want that which is that the insurance will inevitably attempt to maximize its profits and raise costs, eventually causing the system to collapse. That's what is going on with private insurance and hospitals *right now*.

Whatever. I will always put my own rights first and when it comes down to it so will everyone else Dismissing these concerns won't lead to an accord

I think we were talking about Star Trek though? I'm saying if trolley problems do happen, you should never choose to switch the track from the mass casualty, bc there's always an identity reason why only one person is metaphorically on the other track

So you'd rather have countless individual persons die as long as one person feels they weren't "singled out"?

It's the reason behind the whole "Why do you spend more money and effort trying to stop terrorism and murder than people dying from cancer and car accidents" thing

A pure utilitarian thinks "all deaths are equal", most humans don't, sometimes not even the actual people who are dying
