I remember people arguing SO HARD that cartridges were clearly the best and CD-ROM would never catch on because of loading times. And arguing that CD-ROM was clearly the future because storage would scale upwards far better than what carts could manage. Guess both were wrong.

Really, they switched off both because digital downloads can't be resold. So there's no secondary market cutting into their profits.

I also feel like the Switch was a big middle finger to everyone who liked Nintendo for the handhelds. They made a big show of how it was both a handheld and could be played with a tv like bigger systems, but the price jump was like 200% from the 3DS
