I mean for one thing Duke is now explicitly a conversion therapist The First Bride is incorrigibly het and cannot be truly happy and fulfilled without being in a mutually loving relationship with a man And Duke believes this to a sickness

Also I did like that Duke isn't actually crazy, like she isn't unrealistic or deluded about men, she's aware most men aren't a threat to her as they are now and is only worried about what they might become
-
When she kills the guy at the beginning her whole speech is dripping with pity and contempt Like she knows he has no particular ill intentions as he is now, she wryly acknowledges that from his POV he's just going to die a senseless random death

It's not really explored in depth but the knowledge that most of those other brides in the room had lived their entire lives trapped in a sunken place for possibly centuries, only to get mowed down by hunters defending a guy who is invincible, probably really messed with her
-
Something deep about how the reason things shook out the way they did was the only two Brides to survive were the First and the Last One because she was the oldest and most powerful and one because she was the youngest and least under his control
