It's interesting what makes an obscene word become "generic" that way Like in Italian "cazzo" (cock) is just a general thing you say when angry, you yell it like "Fuck!" as an expletive or you call someone "cazzo" like "asshole"

The *reason* it's a swear word probably is tied to implicit homophobia and images of sexual violence, just like "Fuck you!" in English obviously is, but if you try to tell people they mustn't say it as a result you'll get a lot of blank looks
