We need a second person plural and this works. I’m from NY and use it regularly.

“Y’all” is inclusive and friendly. Will we include this greeting as welcoming Americans in the north?

Plenty of us Black folks in the north grow up saying y’all :-)

Or you can go with the South St. Louis version, "yous all".

There have been people saying "y'all" in CT my whole life. It's not as common as "you guys", but like... it's perfectly normal.

I don't think "y'all" and "you all" are synonymous though? "Y'all" is kind of fake folksy but it just functions as 2nd person plural "You all" puts emphasis on the "all", implying unity or unanimity And when addressing 2-3 people, "y'all" is fine but "you all" is weird

Y'all is in no way "fake" in however "folksy" it may be. Its very accommodating, esp if you come from the folks in question. I vote for y'all because it's also used in AAVE and why should this country pretend to be shy about lifting words from AAVE all the sudden?

As someone born and raised in Jersey, I think we should normalize "youse" as a Northeastern alternative to "y'all". Like "y'all", people excised it from their vocabulary due to class. We should consciously bring it back.

I think "you lot" is a charming britishism that has all of the contemptuous air of "you people" but fewer racist connotations.
