Well most mainstream conservatives (as far as i know) don't follow beauty drama, or skit youtubers. So they are less likely to know who Shane Dawson is, the reaction to the netflix show is just that reactive. People don't usually seek out things that will make them angry.

Except that people sought out CUTIES, out of all the hundreds of licensed content available on licensed content, and then became outraged at it based on a trailer, without having seen the movie, evidently solely to get angry Shane Dawson is not as obscure as a Sundance film

Yes, and out of every problematic creator people sought out Shane Dawson after a celebrity, or youtuber who was in their circles put him on blast. Ben Shapiro isn't exactly covering Beauty Drama, but he does have a Netflix subscription. So hes more likely to discuss one thing.

If your argument is "Ben Shapiro doesn't know a lot about things going on in the world and doesn't know how to meaningfully improve anyone's safety but has knee-jerk reactionary responses to minority-produced content based on very little information", I would agree with you

That's one way to put it, but yes. People generally don't leave their bubbles that often, and act reactively when something enters it. I doubt most of the people angry made an active effort to seek this out as opposed to hearing about it from someone in their bubble.

Right, because most people who are angry at this are very selective about what they want to be angry about And people who are angry at this movie, in particular, overwhelmingly know practically nothing about it, other than that they are angry about it

Most people in general are selective about what they are angry about. Its impossible to fight every battle. I myself have been angry about situations I didn't bother to get the full story on. However if all you had was the Netflix trailer, and the Imdb score would you watch this?

do we know what the imdb score was before the right wing had a tantrum about it

I meant as in the parental rating, but twitter is twitter. The rating itself wasn't impacted, and goes over the content in the movie. Which most people would generally find repulsive myself included. With the information provided by Netflix, and most scorers mosg would be angry.

I guess I don't really regard a marginalized victim of sexual assault's autobiographical art film as "repulsive content", though I'd rather watch something with vampires in it

Ftr I haven't seen any source where Doucouré said she personally was a victim of sexual assault, and the film is only loosely autobiographical (she's 35, and she said the film was inspired by her shock at how much easier access to sexual imagery kids have now than 20 years ago)

Replying to @arthur_affect @Nymphomachy and
The most autobiographical stuff is the stuff about Amy's home life and her family (which she addressed in a short film that Cuties is basically an expansion of) The Internet and social media and dance stuff she said she all got from interviews with Gen Z kids
