I saw him in an airport once. A boy of about ten screwed up his courage to ask him for an autograph and Andre said "No."

Maybe the chronic pain played a part here? I struggle with handwriting and I don’t have chronic pain and I’m considered able bodied. I have anxiety every time I have to sign something. Perhaps refusing autographs was self care.

Every famous person talks about how if you try to be nice and sign someone's autograph before long everyone starts asking for autographs and it turns into this whole big thing

Oh the burdens of fame. I felt badly for the kid, not the guy who, without fans like that kid, would have been nothing.

Honestly, no The transaction between you and the fans behind and ends with them buying the ticket and seeing the show Nobody is required to be on the job 24/7 just because they made a lot of money on that job, especially not a disabled performer with chronic pain

He acted like an asshole to a little boy who was a fan. Without cause or explanation. Fuck him.

He wasn’t standing up, but I guess the principal is that if you self medicate with alcohol it’s ok to be a jerk?

I think it's a very minor example of jerkish behavior from someone who suffered a lot in life and don't see the point in trying to define him by it as you have

This is the only time I saw him so it’s what I have. Who knew so many people would defend someone being a jerk to a kid because they like a movie he was in.

I mean, it's not the movie, it's the fact that I know the story of his life and have some context
