Yeah, when it comes to where genres went, disco has a few branches. EDm, techno, etc. is one. Industrial music took some cues from it was well and added it to the bizarre chaos of influences.

With glam rock, it never really crossed in to that and I would say its true successor in this timeframe was the equally if not more gay new wave/new romantic movement of the early 80’s. And that branches to goth in a slight way and is adjacent to punk.

I still think it was a major power move for Daft Punk to chill out a little bit and produce an extremely retro disco track in defiance of their fanbase and then win a Grammy for it
