I find the idea that a happy ending or satisfying resolution *must be possible*, that it's *morally wrong* to write a story about a monster that cannot be defeated, just as alienating and offensive as people who feel the exact opposite I wish they would leave me alone

This is the kind of thought I was having when the prosperity gospel got repackaged into 'The Secret.' It was ~2005 or so, 9/11 was still fresh in folks' mind, and I just asked, "Wait, so... the folks in the towers just -manifested- planes that day?'
