I find the idea that a happy ending or satisfying resolution *must be possible*, that it's *morally wrong* to write a story about a monster that cannot be defeated, just as alienating and offensive as people who feel the exact opposite I wish they would leave me alone

The "hopeful" spin people try to put on this - that their suffering was a mere necessary prelude to OUR time when WE can build on their experiences and WE will fix the world because WE are the age of heroes - is even worse Fuck that shit so hard
