Feels like one has to reconcile the fact that most of the taboos about queer storytelling (don't "bury your gays", NEVER reveal a deadname, don't use transness as a reveal, et al) with the reality that the only people susceptible to enforcement of those taboos are queer writers
Eeeeeenh I may not be plugged in to the community enough but all the real explosive fandom fights over this I can think of were very much over cishet creators who openly talked about what they were doing as benevolent representation "from outside"

It *may* be that a trans man who did a version of Lev's story from TLOU2 would've gotten the same level of backlash, I honestly don't know, but the backlash we did get was very much because the writing staff of TLOU2 weren't trans to anyone's knowledge

I mean The significance of the queer criticism of TLOU2 on Naughty Dog as a developer, or even just its writing team, means precisely dick It's loud and extremely visible in these circles but there's basically no evidence to suggest it will be of any consequence whatsoever

Idk about that. Maybe for higher profile stuff, but smaller and indie creators def. much more immediate pressure in their own communities. There’s just not always well known discourse about it, esp. anything that gets much attention outside of a handful of individuals.
