The way Christianity says we can’t consent to leave it is by far one of the most creepy things I’ve heard a religion do. When I say Christianity has a consent problem, that’s a big reason why.

It is official Catholic doctrine that a confirmed Catholic can NEVER stop being Catholic EVER for ANY circumstances. We become apostate Catholics, but still Catholics. Many Protestant sects agree on this.

Without trying to say the two religions are similar in any other respect, it's like how a bar mitzvah doesn't in any sense "make you Jewish", it just says that you are now prepared to fully participate in services - but you already were Jewish from birth

In fact already actually being a member is a strict prerequisite of being allowed to participate in stuff like confirmation or bar mitzvah
