I got a weird complex for a little while because it's a much more common name in the UK and Terry Pratchett seems very fond of it He said once that "Arthur" is the "reliable working class bloke" name he grew up with when talking about names

So there's this running gag he seemed to think was inherently funny where there are various colorful characters in Ankh-Morpork named "[Adjective] Mad Arthur" Like the previous master of the Guild of Dogs before Big Fido was Barking Mad Arthur

(The one who stuck around the most was of course the gnome, Wee Mad Arthur) In the Tiffany Aching books Tiffany names the hiver "Arthur" and straight up just says it's because she "always liked that name" and it's a disarmingly ordinary name Same logic as Arthur Dent I guess

Abigail went from a grandma name that no one had to a really popular name that a lot of pop culture characters had around 10-15 years ago and I'm still not over it. At least most of them go by "Abby".
