I have an unpopular take on Breaking Bad, which is that I don't think giving Walt a heroic-last-stand was necessarily bad, for the reason someone just mentioned in the thread I started on the (lack of) complexity of real world villains He was fighting Nazis.

Like, as much as people have held up Walter White as an example of toxic masculinity, I've NEVER seen, like, a transphobic meme photoshopped onto Heisenberg walking away from an explosion Walter White is a supervillain and power fantasy with some traits we could call male BUT

I feel like people hold him up as a Toxic Masculinity because there has to be SOMETHING bad about him that makes it so we don't have to think about how cool he kind of is

Well he IS a monster who murders Jessica Jones, though I think the SHOW also wants you to see him as bad, like it was clearly trying to prove something taking him from tragic sad sack to deadly crime boss but also he's no Gus who actually IS cool

He's a monster in season 1 too and I think they just got frustrated cause at the time people were actually really fighting that, like in episode 6 his grey matter partners are like "we heard about your cancer, here is literally all the money to solve it" & he spits in their face

To be fair, I think a lot of us have people we'd at least have a really hard time accepting financial help from specifically because it was coming from them
