man feels there are more good Mandarin-language movies and television shows nowadays than there were when I was actually learning the language A lot of the old movies we watched were clearly filmed in Cantonese and dubbed in Mandarin which felt like it kind of missed the point

This was a thing at my old church years ago, we were shooting a video for some reason and someone was telling an old guy to speak more clearly into the camera and he was like "We're just going to dub this over afterwards, aren't we? Isn't that normal for how they make movies?"
