Also on the Aaron Coleman statement: Kansas has the *strictest* alcohol consumption laws in the US. In addition to admitting to a pattern of repeated battery of his ex girlfriend (with a 3 year statute of limitations), he’s also admitted to multiple minor possession violations.
Because that one happened when he was 12 years old, and it's pretty rare to bring criminal charges on a child younger than 14

But he posted it after he’d hit 14. Which puts it into a weird grey area under the Federal Delinquincy Act. Once it was posted, it became federal & should have been referred. (I’m assuming his local PD didn’t.) The US District attorney could have referred it back to state...

Or tried him as an adult. They’re reluctant to try under 16s as adults. (And just generally not going to touch 13-16 year olds.) And if the state/county wouldn’t do anything about it, it just... sat there.
