21-year-old adults are too young and fragile to make consensual decisions about who they want to date and sleep with. But 13-year-old middle school students should be held responsible into adulthood for their bad acts. Love me, love me, love me, I'm a liberal.
I conducted a 30-minute interview by video with Aaron Coleman, the 19-year-old progressive who unseated a 13-year corporatist Dem for the Kansas State House. We'll have it up shortly. I hope everyone judging & condemning him will listen to what he has to say in his own words.
Aaron Coleman, the 19-year-old progressive who won his Kansas primary, speaks about his troubled past and promising present. Watch the 30-minute video with the controversial, unconventional candidate.https://theintercept.com/2020/08/21/aaron-coleman-the-19-year-old-progressive-who-won-his-kansas-primary-speaks-about-his-troubled-past-and-promising-present/ …
He distributed revenge porn of an underage girl and helped get her bullied to the point she attempted suicide. "Troubled past" is doing an awful lot of legwork there, Glenn.
He was in middle school. This behavior is pretty common for boys who are traumatized. They have a hard time understanding the ramifications of their actions. He demonstrates that he regrets and intends to continue using his repentance to enact legitimate change.
Aaron Coleman admitted today to hitting his ex-girlfriend earlier this year. He himself described their relationship as "abusive" Do you still think its no big deal. After all, he was only 18 at the time.
I never said it was no big deal. I think it is a HUGE deal. I still want him in office because he is willing to be publicly accountable. Abusers need to see examples of public repentance. Real repentance. Real owning of the crime and true discussion about the root causes.
While he was running for office on how personally accountable he is, he was beating up his girlfriend. At the same time. How can you possibly say thats repentance?
Are you willing to admit your crimes in front of your community? That is public repentance. We are watching him intensely. Do you really think he will abuse again?
But he's not! He openly stated that he hadn't done anything bad for five years when Greenwald interviewed him! He's only "repenting" now because he HAS TO because Taylor's allegations are all over the media and people won't stop spamming them in his replies
Not to mention he hasn't repented at all. He put out an "apology" that essentially called his ex a liar and blamed her. Saying that yes, he hit her but he never choked her. I once had an ex claim it didn't count if he hit me with an open hand instead of a punch. Rings a bell.
