I know there are often pragmatic reasons for this but I kind of feel like modern animation/sequential art has verifiably demonstrated that in fact the standard biological range of human hair colors actually sucks and very saturated colors are strictly aesthetically superior

Like humans should be able to have naturally lime green hair and it's just that evolution fucked that up

Animals that have bright green coloration almost always have it because of a mix of yellow-brown pigments and structural coloration, which adds the blue element So this would require human hair to be quite a bit more structurally complex than it is

Animals don't make blue pigment at all really We do make a green substance - biliverdin, one of the components in bile - but it's a toxic waste product (it's why green is associated with gangrene)
