Like I don't think Cooper should have gotten life in prison either but I don't think it's stupid for the hate crime of attempted murder to be considered on the merits of exactly what it is

Like, the whole issue with honor-based retributive justice is that it's actually pretty rare that a wrongdoer who gets caught and punished will have them and their family just give in and go, "Okay, you got me, I'm the asshole and I'm sorry, now we're square"

I mean yeah it's a half-cocked metaphor because royalty and nobility literally shouldn't exist to begin with, if nothing else, its existence is kind of the original sin, I just used WW1 because it was exacerbated by backdoor alliances and pacts
